I wrote this short fictional story back in 2004 while I was still a final year film student living in Brisbane, Australia. It was originally published on Dhivehi Observer. The purposes of the story was to get our audience to identify with our vision at the time and to enable us to work with each other during the early days of the democratic reform movement.
Reading it now, I am amazed at some of the things I was able to imagine back then. If I were to write this story now, I probably wouldn’t. Either way, I wanted to share this with you all.
This is an audio convert of the story uploaded to my SoundCloud as part of a small experiment that I am conducting. The story is read converted to audio by an application called SoundGecko.
The text version of the story is available here;
